Tune while you fly
Betaflight adjustments change a rate, a PID or a profile from a switch while you fly. FlySpark lists every slot the board sends. A slot does nothing until its switch is inside the range you set.
Each used slot has two channels. One channel decides when the slot is active. The other channel changes the value, or picks an option when the function is a selection. A new slot starts at 1700 to 2100 µs and adjusts roll and pitch rate.
The range is stored in steps of 25 µs, from 900 to 2100. The slot is active at the start value and stays active below the end value. Centre and scale appear on Betaflight API 1.48 and newer. The 4.5 demo does not show those two fields. Channel 0 is AUX1, so a new slot's enable channel is AUX2 and its change channel is the next one along.
Free. Hardware connections need Chrome or Edge on a computer; phones use the FlySpark app.

In short
A Betaflight adjustment is active only while its switch sits inside a microsecond range. A second channel then steps the chosen value up or down. A new slot starts at 1700 to 2100 µs on roll and pitch rate.
Key facts
- The slot is active while the switch is at or above the start and below the end.
- A new slot uses 1700 to 2100 µs and adjusts roll and pitch rate.
- Above centre steps the value up. Below centre steps it down.
- Rate profile, PID audio, OSD profile and LED profile select an option instead.
- Centre and scale are 0 to 2000 on Betaflight API 1.48 and newer. The 4.5 demo hides them.
- The demo lists 30 Betaflight slots and 20 INAV slots.
- A build without the feature shows an empty tab and says so.
- Chrome or Edge uses USB or Bluetooth. iPhone has no USB host.

Features
- 01
Active only in range
The switch channel must read at or above the start and below the end. Outside that span the slot is idle, even if the change channel moves.
- 02
1700 to 2100 µs
A new slot opens on that span, which is the high end of a switch. The steps are 25 µs, so the ends land on the mode-range scale.
- 03
Roll and pitch rate
That is the function a new slot selects. You can change it to another rate, a PID, feedforward, or a profile.
- 04
Step up or down
The change channel steps the number up when it is above centre and down when it is below centre. A selection function picks an option instead.
- 05
Thirty or twenty slots
The demo lists 30 slots on Betaflight and 20 on INAV. A connected board shows the count it actually sends.
- 06
Missing on some builds
If the firmware was built without in-flight adjustments, the tab says so and stays empty. There is no slot to add.
When the slot is active
The enable channel is an AUX channel. Its range uses the same 900 to 2100 µs scale as a mode, in steps of 25. FlySpark draws that span on the slot. While the live channel sits inside it, the card marks the slot active.
Inside means at or above the start, and below the end. A slot drawn as 1700 to 2100 µs is active at 1700 and not active at 2100. If you want the top click of a 3-position switch included, set the end one step past that click.
Outside the span, moving the change channel does nothing. That is the point of the enable switch: the value stays put until you ask for it. Check the live readout on the slot before you blame the rate.
What the second channel changes
The change channel is a different AUX. Above centre it steps the chosen value up. Below centre it steps the value down. At centre it holds. This is not the centre-value field. Centre value is a separate number on newer Betaflight, and 0 there means start from the setting already on the board.
A new slot adjusts roll and pitch rate. The same list includes yaw rate, the P, I and D gains, feedforward and horizon strength. Pick the one you mean. Stepping roll and pitch rate from a switch is a big change in the air. Use a small movement and a switch you can find without looking.
Some functions do not step a number. On Betaflight 4.5 those selections include the rate profile, PID audio, the OSD profile and the LED profile. Each position of the change switch picks a different option. The hint on the slot says so when the function is a selection.
INAV has its own function list. An INAV 7 board stops before the altitude-response entry that INAV 8 added, because that index would read past the older table. If a function you use on Betaflight is missing on INAV, it is not in that firmware's list.
Centre, scale and the 4.5 demo
Betaflight API 1.48 and newer add two fields, centre and scale, each from 0 to 2000. Centre 0 starts from the value already set. Scale is how far either side of that centre the step reaches, and 0 means the default. On a selection, scale is how much of the switch travel is used.
The Betaflight 4.5 demo speaks MSP API 1.46, so those two fields are hidden. You still get the enable range, the function and the change channel. Do not expect centre and scale on that demo, and do not assume a 4.5 board has them either.
The demo opens 30 slots on Betaflight and 20 on INAV. One slot in the Betaflight demo is already used: roll and pitch rate, enabled while AUX2 is high, stepped by AUX4. Empty slots are free. Add fills the next free one with 1700 to 2100 µs.
Try the range before you fly
Props off. Move the enable switch and watch the slot. It should light only in the span you set. Then move the change channel and confirm the direction: high steps up, low steps down. If the slot never lights, the range does not cover the switch's clicks, or the firmware build has no adjustment feature.
A build without the feature shows one line: the firmware was built without in-flight adjustments. Adding a slot is not offered. That is a firmware option, not a missing wire.
Chrome or Edge connects over USB or Bluetooth. Android adds Wi-Fi. iPhone uses Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and has no USB host. Modes that share these switches are on the Modes tab. The rates themselves are on Rates.
An adjustment is not a mode
A mode turns a flight mode on while its switch is in range. An adjustment changes a number, or picks a profile, while its own switch is in range. They can share a transmitter switch, and they still do different jobs. Arming on one range and stepping a rate on another keeps the two easy to tell apart.
The enable channel and the change channel should not be the same stick unless you mean them to move together. Channel 0 is AUX1. Add starts the enable channel at AUX2, which is channel 1, and the change channel at AUX3. The slot already filled in the Betaflight demo uses AUX2 to enable and AUX4 to step.
Save before you fly the change. Props off for the first test, the same as a motor check. Watch the active mark on the card. If it lights in the wrong click, move the range by 25 µs until the click you want is inside and the clicks you do not want are outside.
INAV adjustments use the same idea and a different function list. Return to home on INAV is a flight mode, not an adjustment, and it is not Betaflight GPS Rescue. If you only wanted a mode, set it on the Modes tab and leave the adjustment slots empty.

Add an in-flight adjustment
Add a slot
Open Adjustments and add a slot. It starts at 1700 to 2100 µs and selects roll and pitch rate. If the tab says the feature is missing, this firmware cannot do it.
Set the enable range
Put the enable switch's clicks inside the span. The slot is active at the start value and below the end value. The scale steps by 25 µs.
Choose the function and the change channel
Pick the rate, gain or profile. Point the change channel at a different switch. Above centre steps up. Below centre steps down. A selection picks an option instead.
Watch it go active
Props off. Move the enable switch until the slot marks itself active, then move the change channel and confirm the step direction.
Troubleshooting
Common problems and fixes
Problem
The slot never goes active
Fix
The switch is outside the span, or the end value is not past the click you are holding. The end itself is not inside the range.
Problem
Moving the knob does nothing
Fix
That channel is the change channel. It only steps while the enable switch is inside the range. Check you are not moving the enable switch.
Problem
Centre and scale are missing
Fix
Those fields need Betaflight API 1.48 or newer. The 4.5 demo is API 1.46, so it does not show them.
Problem
The tab says the feature is missing
Fix
This firmware was built without in-flight adjustments. There is no slot to add until you flash a build that includes them.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is a Betaflight adjustment?
A slot that changes a rate, a PID or a profile from a transmitter channel while you fly. It works only while its enable switch is inside the range.
What range does a new slot use?
1700 to 2100 µs, in steps of 25. It is active at 1700 and below 2100. That is the high end of a switch.
How does the value change?
A second channel steps it. Above centre steps up. Below centre steps down. Selection functions, such as a rate profile, pick an option instead of stepping a number.
Which function does a new slot adjust?
Roll and pitch rate. You can change the function to another rate, a PID gain, feedforward, horizon strength, or a profile.
Why are centre and scale missing?
Centre and scale are on Betaflight API 1.48 and newer, from 0 to 2000. The 4.5 demo is API 1.46 and does not show them. Centre 0 starts from the current setting.
How many slots are there?
The demo lists 30 on Betaflight and 20 on INAV. A board shows the number of slots it sends, and the tab counts how many are used.
Does INAV use the same list?
INAV has its own functions. INAV 7 stops before the altitude-response entry that INAV 8 added, so that entry is not offered on INAV 7.
The tab is empty and mentions the feature. What now?
The firmware was built without in-flight adjustments. FlySpark cannot add a slot that the firmware does not have.
Can I set this in Chrome?
Yes. Chrome or Edge connects over USB or Bluetooth. Android adds Wi-Fi. iPhone uses Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and has no USB host.
