A MAVLink ground station that runs in your browser
FlySpark speaks MAVLink 2 to ArduPilot and PX4 vehicles from a Chrome or Edge tab, and from the FlySpark app on Android and iPhone. Watch the HUD and map, arm, change modes, edit parameters, plan missions and download logs.
Connect a USB cable, a telemetry radio such as SiK or RFD900, or a Bluetooth telemetry adapter.
Free. Hardware connections need Chrome or Edge on a computer; phones use the FlySpark app.
Features
HUD and map
Attitude, altitude, speed, battery and GPS, with the vehicle on a map.
Safe arming
Arming shows the vehicle's pre-arm messages, and force actions need a deliberate hold, so a stray tap cannot cause trouble.
Parameters
The full list with descriptions; changed values are written in one batch.
Mission plans
Waypoints, geofence and rally points, survey grids, and KML, GPX or GeoJSON import.
Logs and MAVFTP
Download dataflash logs and browse files on the vehicle.
Message signing
MAVLink 2 signing keys from a passphrase.
What a web ground station is good for
A ground control station is the screen between you and the autopilot. Desktop tools such as Mission Planner and QGroundControl are mature and feature-rich. A browser-based ground station adds something they cannot: open a link on any Chrome computer and you are connected, with nothing to install or update.
That suits bench setup, quick parameter checks, field laptops and classrooms. FlySpark's ground station follows the familiar Data, Setup, Config and Plan layout, so moving between tools feels natural.
Supported links
In the browser: USB serial to the autopilot or telemetry radio through Web Serial, and Bluetooth UART adapters through Web Bluetooth. In the FlySpark phone app: the same, plus UDP on port 14550 and TCP, which covers ESP Wi-Fi bridges and SITL simulators.
Vehicle-specific setup lives on the ArduPilot and PX4 pages. For CAN peripherals such as GPS units and ESCs, see the DroneCAN GUI.
How to connect a MAVLink vehicle in the browser
- Open the ground station. Open FlySpark in Chrome or Edge and choose the MAVLink ground station.
- Connect the link. Plug in the autopilot or telemetry radio over USB, or use a Bluetooth adapter, and allow the device.
- Wait for the heartbeat. FlySpark detects ArduPilot or PX4 and loads the parameters.
- Fly or plan. Use the HUD and map, or open Plan to edit and upload a mission.
Frequently asked questions
Which autopilots work?
ArduPilot and PX4 over MAVLink. Other MAVLink devices may connect, but setup pages are written for those two.
Can I use UDP telemetry in the browser?
No. Browsers cannot open UDP sockets. Use the FlySpark app for UDP 14550 and TCP links.
Is MAVLink 2 signing supported?
Yes. Create a key from a passphrase, sign outgoing messages and send the key to the vehicle.
Is there a demo?
Yes. A simulated vehicle with parameters and a sample mission is available without any hardware.
