Nose up, more power
The Fixed-wing flight card is how an INAV plane holds speed in auto modes. Pitch to throttle adds power as the nose rises and takes it away in a dive.
The demo adds 10 µs of throttle for each degree of pitch, and ignores a pitch change under 5 degrees. A move of 4 degrees changes nothing. A move of 5 degrees adds 50 µs.
A plane, boat, rover or other platform shows the card. A multirotor, tricopter or helicopter hides it. If the firmware has no platform list, the card is shown. The percent on the Autoland card is a different field, used only on final.
Free. Hardware connections need Chrome or Edge on a computer; phones use the FlySpark app.

In short
The Fixed-wing flight card adds throttle as the nose rises and takes it away in a dive. The demo uses 10 µs per degree and ignores pitch changes under 5 degrees. A multirotor hides the card.

Features
- 01
10 µs per degree
Throttle per degree of pitch runs from 0 to 100. The demo starts at 10 µs for each degree the nose moves.
- 02
A 5 degree dead band
Ignore pitch changes under runs from 0 to 90 degrees, in steps of 0.5. The demo starts at 5 degrees.
- 03
Smoothing starts at 6
Pitch to throttle smoothing is 0 to 9. The demo is 6. 0 is no smoothing and 9 is the heaviest.
- 04
Loiter starts right
Loiter direction starts on Right. Left circles the other way. Yaw stick is the third choice.
- 05
20 degrees a second
Turn rate in Cruise is 0 to 120 degrees per second. The demo starts at 20.
- 06
3 m/s from the stick
Climb rate from the pitch stick is 0.1 to 25 m/s, in steps of 0.1. The demo starts at 3 m/s.
Power follows the nose
Throttle per degree of pitch is a whole number from 0 to 100, and the unit is microseconds per degree. The demo starts at 10. Nose up by 10 degrees at that setting asks for 100 µs more. Nose down by 10 degrees asks for 100 µs less. At 0 the nose can move and the throttle stays put.
Ignore pitch changes under is the dead band. It runs from 0 to 90 degrees, in steps of 0.5, and the demo starts at 5 degrees. A pitch change smaller than that does not move the throttle. At 5 degrees the change counts. The picture on this page uses those demo numbers: under 5 degrees the readout stays at 0 µs, and at 5 degrees it steps to 50 µs.
Pitch to throttle smoothing is 0 to 9. The hint on the field says 0 is none and 9 is the heaviest. The demo starts at 6, so the throttle change is eased in rather than stepped. This is not Navigation smoothness, which is a separate field further down the card and starts at 0.
The footer says pitch to throttle adds power as the nose rises and takes it away in a dive, holding speed in auto modes. The picture does not fly the plane. It only shows the demo mix: 10 µs per degree, ignored under 5 degrees.
The glide and the throttle stick
Nose down at minimum throttle runs from 0 to 45 degrees, in steps of 0.5. The demo starts at 0. The hint says it keeps airspeed when gliding with the motor at minimum. Raising it points the nose down on that glide so the plane does not slow until the wing stalls.
Throttle stick can add power starts off. The hint says it works above cruise throttle in auto modes. While it is off, the stick does not add power on top of the auto throttle. Turn it on when you want that extra, and leave it off when the auto mode should keep the throttle it chose.
Climb rate from the pitch stick is 0.1 to 25 m/s, in steps of 0.1. The demo starts at 3 m/s. That is how fast a pitch-stick input is allowed to ask for a climb, not the pitch-to-throttle mix above.
The Autoland card has its own pitch to throttle on final, and that one is a percent from 100 to 400. Do not copy a number from one field into the other. Microseconds per degree shape the cruise. The percent is only the landing.
How the plane turns
Navigation smoothness is 0 to 9. The hint says 0 is sharp and 9 is very smooth. The demo starts at 0, so navigation corrections are not softened. Pitch to throttle smoothing, above, is the one that starts at 6.
Altitude correction speed runs from 5 to 100. The demo starts at 20. The hint says a higher number reacts faster to altitude errors. The bottom of the field is 5, so it cannot be turned down to 0.
Turn rate in Cruise is 0 to 120 degrees per second, and the demo starts at 20. That is the yaw rate used while Cruise is the mode, not the loiter circle.
Loiter direction starts on Right. Left is the other circle. Yaw stick hands the choice to the yaw stick. The card is drawn when the board has at least one of throttle per degree, navigation smoothness, or loiter direction.
Where you set it
Open Advanced nav on an INAV plane and find Fixed-wing flight. Chrome or Edge connects over USB or Bluetooth. Android adds Wi-Fi. iPhone uses Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and has no USB host.
Leave the prop clear of hands while you only change numbers. The first check of a new mix is still a flight, with room to climb out if the nose and the throttle do not agree.
FlySpark
Set pitch to throttle
Open Fixed-wing flight
On an INAV plane, open Advanced nav and find Fixed-wing flight. A multirotor does not show the card.
Read the demo mix
Throttle per degree starts at 10 µs. Pitch changes under 5 degrees are ignored. Smoothing starts at 6.
Set the turn
Loiter direction starts on Right. Turn rate in Cruise starts at 20 degrees per second.
Leave the stick off
Throttle stick can add power starts off. Turn it on only if you want extra power above cruise throttle.
Troubleshooting
Common problems and fixes
Problem
The Fixed-wing flight card is missing
Fix
The platform is a multirotor, tricopter or helicopter, or the board has none of the three settings the card needs. A plane shows it. No platform list also shows it.
Problem
A small pitch change does nothing
Fix
Ignore pitch changes under starts at 5 degrees. A move of 4 degrees stays at 0 µs. At 5 degrees the demo adds 50 µs.
Problem
The throttle stick adds no power
Fix
Throttle stick can add power starts off. It only adds power above cruise throttle in auto modes, and only after you turn it on.
Problem
The loiter circle goes the wrong way
Fix
Loiter direction starts on Right. Choose Left for the other circle, or Yaw stick to let the yaw stick decide.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is INAV pitch to throttle?
Throttle added as the nose rises and taken away in a dive, so auto modes hold speed. The demo is 10 µs per degree.
What does the demo ignore?
Pitch changes under 5 degrees. At 5 degrees the demo adds 50 µs. The field runs from 0 to 90 degrees, in steps of 0.5.
How heavy is the smoothing?
0 is none and 9 is the heaviest. The demo starts at 6. That field is not Navigation smoothness, which starts at 0.
Which way does loiter start?
Right. Left is the other circle. Yaw stick lets the yaw stick choose.
How fast is the Cruise turn?
0 to 120 degrees per second. The demo starts at 20.
What is the climb rate from the stick?
0.1 to 25 m/s, in steps of 0.1. The demo starts at 3 m/s.
Can the throttle stick add power?
Only after you turn that switch on. It starts off, and the hint says it works above cruise throttle in auto modes.
Does a quad have this card?
No. A multirotor, tricopter or helicopter hides it. A plane, boat, rover or other platform shows it.
Is this the Autoland percent?
No. Autoland pitch to throttle on final is 100 to 400 percent. This card is microseconds per degree, for the cruise.
Can I set this in Chrome?
Yes, on INAV. Chrome or Edge uses USB or Bluetooth. Android adds Wi-Fi. iPhone uses Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and has no USB host.
